Craps Tips and Strategies for Beginners - VI

If you are new to craps, the one thing you will definitely need is knowledge of the different aspects of the games - the table itself, the different elements involved in the game, types of bets, and strategies. The earlier videos in this series talked about the game itself as well as some of the bets and strategies involved in the game. In this video, the sixth of the series, we talk about hardways betting.

The hardways bet is usually on the numbers 4, 6, 8, or 10. The term "hardways" comes from "hard way": the hard way of getting an even number roll, which is by getting two equal values on both dice, e.g. 2 and 2, 4 and 4, and so on. When you roll numbers like that, the stickman calls out to let people know that the numbers have rolled the hard way, for instance, 8 hard. The hardways bets are usually at the central portion of the table, along with the proposition bets.

The hardways bets are considered standing bets because they "stand" till an outcome materializes. Therefore, what applies to other standing bets applies to the hardways bets as well - you can make the bet, take it off, or change the amount. You can learn more about this bet through this short video.
