Huck Seed is an American professional poker player who made a name for himself when he won the World Series of Poker tournament in 1996. Seed has participated and won events in several world renowned poker tournaments like the NBC Heads-Up Poker Championship and the World Poker Tour.

 

Early Life

 

Huck Seed was born as Huckleberry Seed in the year 1969 on January 15th. Although he was born in Santa Clara, California, Seed later moved to Corvallis, Montana where he grew up. Seed was not exposed to poker at a young age, and went through high school playing basketball and proving to be somewhat of a wizard at math. Seed had the notion of studying to be an electrical engineer and took a course at the California Institute of Technology. It was at this juncture that Huck Seed met the poker table and found his whole life changed.

 

Poker Career

 

Seed began playing poker while attending the California Institute of Technology and found it so much to his liking that he left the hallowed halls of his college behind for the gambling halls of Vegas.

 

After that, seed did not look back and continued to win and progress in the poker industry, he won several big pots and eventually decided to try his luck at the World Series of Poker in the year 1990. He did remarkably well in the event and finished fourth in the Seven-Card Stud and Limit Hold'em Hi-Lo WSOP events. Seed met so much of success at the gaming tables that he ended up earning twice as much than most electrical engineers per year.

 

Seed was on his way to hitting a goldmine at the WSOP 1994 when he participated and won $167,000 in winnings. Two years later, Seed took the Championship in 1996 and got $1,000,000 in poker winnings along with his first WSOP gold bracelet for the No Limit Hold'em Pot-Limit Omaha event. Seed then went on to play in several more WSOP events over the years, and has had some decent cash-ins but has never been able to duplicate his success of 1996.

 

A few years later, Seed tried out for the NBC Heads-Up Poker Championship in 2009 and found lady luck smiling down on him yet again. This time, he was on a series of wins and Huck Seed and walked away with $500,000 along with a record of 18-4 and being the only player to have cashed in on very NBC Heads-Up event. Today, Seidel holds the record set by Seed.

 

Seed’s next notable win was the WPT Tournament of Champions freeroll for yet another $500,000

 

As of now, the total winnings of Huck Seed rate as $5,825,000 which he earned while playing live poker tournaments. Seed also has a total of 4 World Series of Poker bracelets to his name with around 40 cash-ins at the WSOP.


Unlike many other poker players who tend to be very vocal and exuberant at the poker tables, Huck Seed is the ultimate calm and smooth operator.
