Phil Galfond, a US-based professional poker player, has attracted the attention of the poker gaming community with his exceptional poker expertise, strategies, and gaming style. He won the prestigious World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet in 2008 when he participated in the $5k PL Omaha event. Galfond is known for his high stakes poker success, owing to which he was requested to appear on High Stakes Poker by GSN.

 

Early Life


Born in 1985 in Maryland, Galfond graduated from the Thomas Sprigg Wootton High School and got a degree from the Wisconsin-Madison University.


Galfond was one of the innumerable US online poker players who were affected when the federal government cracked down on online poker giants PokerStars, Full Tilt Poker, and Absolute Poker. He has recently moved to Canada in a bid to continue playing professional poker online.


Galfond’s Poker Achievements


By 2010, Galfond had won over $996,000 just by winning live poker tournaments; and $925,936 of it comes from his WSOP winnings.


In 2008, Galfond added $817,781 to his impressive poker bankroll after winning a $5k PL Omaha event at the WSOP. He had played against a number of top professional poker players such as Phil Hellmuth, John Juanda, David Benyamine, Daniel Negreau, and others.


That same year, Galfond finished 70th in the $25k World Poker Tour (WPT) NL Hold’em event, adding $39,570 to his bankroll.


In 2006, Galfond emerged in the 18th position in the WSOP Circuit at Grand Casino Tunica, grabbing a cool $22,895.


Galfond has been just as successful playing online poker. He usually frequents the high stakes tables with betting limits as high as $200/$400 and prefers NL Hold’em and PL Omaha events. Galfond has won more than $8 million playing online poker throughout the course of his poker career and has been said to have achieved more online poker success than any other player in online poker history.

Galfond established BlueFirePoker.com in 2009 after several years of mulling over the possibility of establishing such a website. BlueFirePoker.com offers a collection of instructional poker videos for the benefit of new players aspiring poker success. Galfond not only introduces fresh poker information and tutorials, but also hires qualified trainers to manage the site.
